For Builders

The essay argues for a public working memory for science. This page names the minimum objects that memory would need to carry.

Primitives

Finding

An addressable claim with scope, method, uncertainty, review status, and revision history.

Evidence

The data, paper, assay, observation, model output, or expert review supporting or weakening a finding.

Failure

A negative result or dead end recorded with conditions, protocol, measurement, and uncertainty.

Correction

A signed event that weakens, revises, scopes, retracts, or redirects a finding and its dependencies.

Confidence Update

A change in belief caused by new evidence, replication, contradiction, or better measurement.

Experiment Run

A protocol executed under specific conditions, with instrument context and measured outcome attached.

Review Event

Human or agent review that records who checked what, against which evidence, and with what limits.

Frontier Snapshot

A versioned view of what a field currently believes, where it is thin, and what should be tested next.

The Loop

Agents can draft candidate updates. Humans, labs, and institutions decide what becomes canonical. Every accepted change should preserve provenance, dependencies, and the evidence that moved the frontier.

The goal is not a new place to upload papers. It is a protocol layer that lets many surfaces read and propose against the same field state.
